Self-Check Machine PIN Code
As a security measure, the Library has implemented a PIN code system on Self-Check machines. To borrow books on these machines, you will need to key in a PIN code (in addition to using your matric / staff / Library card).
The PIN code is a numeric password (between 2-10 digits long) that you create and known only to you. If you misplaced your matric card, this code will stop someone else from using your card to borrow books.
First time users of the Self-Check machines will need to set their PIN code by selecting the "Sign In" option in the library catalogue (OPAC), logging in and following the instructions under "Self-check PIN code". Please note that the default PIN code has been set to the barcode found on your matric / staff / Library card.
NB: if a book has been borrowed using your matric card, YOU are responsible for that book!
If you forget and need to reset your PIN code, approach the Library Customer Service Counter on Level 2.

Due Dates
When using the Self-Check machine, a receipt is printed with the due date. Patrons who check out materials accept responsibility for returning or renewing materials on or before the due date and for responding promptly to recall notices.
Renew your library loans
Renew loans online using the library catalogue (OPAC) or through the Self-Check machines (with items present) in the Library. For instructions on how to renew loans online, click here.
For enquiries and in-person renewal, present your matric / Library card at the Customer Service Counter on Level 2.
A maximum of five renewals is allowed for books and audio-visual (AV) titles if there are no reservations for the items. After five renewals, if no reservations have been placed, you can ask for a new loan cycle.
Please note: Periodicals, Red-spot, Reference and AV Restricted titles cannot be renewed.
Avoid fines by returning items on time or renewing by the due date.

Making Reservations
You can reserve up to 10 open-shelf or AV general materials (40 for academic, 20 for adjunct & non-academic staff) at any one time via the library catalogue (OPAC). Reference, periodicals and red-spot items cannot be reserved.
Reserved items are held for 5 days only (3 days for AV titles). Members will be notified via email or post to collect them.
Courtesy Notices
These are system-generated notices which will be sent to you before and again on the day the library items are due. These notices will serve as reminders to you to return or renew your loans promptly. Otherwise, overdue charges will commence immediately after the Due Date.
To receive Courtesy Notices, part-time students are advised to give the Library their email addresses. You can email to Libloan@tp.edu.sg or inform the staff at the Customer Service Counter.
Members with outstanding overdue fines will also be informed via the Notice for Outstanding Charges, sent out on a monthly basis.
E-mail notices may be delayed or lost by the mail system. You are responsible for due dates and subsequent fines whether or not Courtesy Notices are received.
