CITING sources - to avoid plagiarism

(1 of 7)

Citing your sources, in a reference list or bibliography, is providing a list
of all the resources you have used

It is important to cite sources in your assignments, reports & projects for the following reasons...

  • to avoid (this cannot be over-stressed!)

  • to acknowledge the work of others

  • to show that you have read widely in your subject area

  • to show that you can select relevant information

  • to allow your readers to find the source for themselves
