Schools > ITAS: ITAS Newsletter

ITAS Newsletter
ITAS newsletter first appeared as a four-page stapled A4 newsletter in July 1994. Mr Ang Keng Loo, who was then acting director, wrote the first opening message for it. And this happened just a month before now-Director Mr Tan Dek Yam joined TP!

Soon after some time, ITAS NewsWeb was born in July 1995. The name for the biannual issue was picked from entries in a "Name our Newsletter" Competition. A broadsheet with two pages only, the issue was first distributed in Grange Road campus with much excitement over the much-anticipated move to Tampines.

Circulated to staff, the newsletter was interspersed with articles on trends in Information Technology. For instance, the inaugural issue was about the use of CGI in education, various projects undertaken by staff at ITAS, and industry links.

Our investigation showed that ITAS did produce newsletters of varying sizes over the years at semestral intervals. However, the newsletter didn't survive the split of ITAS into Schools of IT and Applied Science in 2002. As we write this piece in February 2003, a complete web version is available at http://www-it.tp.edu.sg under the heading "What's Happening".
